The second wine of the estate of Chateau Nenan, the owner of which in 1997 was Jean-Hubert Delon, who bought 28 hectares of vineyards and a 19th-century house from his closest relatives, the Depujol family. The average age of the vines of Merlot (78% of plantings), Cabernet Franc (21% of plantings), and Cabernet Sauvignon (1% of plantings) is 30 years, but there are also some areas with an age of 60 years. The Delon family are the historical owners of the great castles in the Medoc - Chateau Leoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis, and Chateau Potensac. In 1999, another 4 hectares were purchased from Chateau Certan Giraud, after which Mr. Moex acquired the rest of the estate, and Chateau Hosanna and Chateau Certan Marzelle (located next door to Chateau Nenant) were born. The renovation of the cellar in 2004 significantly increased the quality of the wine. Glory came to this castle in 2015 when the yield was significantly reduced, selection became stricter and harvesting dates increased. Also, the previous owners had more Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in their total plantings. Increasing the proportion of Merlot had a significant impact on the taste. The estate's second wine, FUGUE DE NENIN, was first introduced by Jean-Hubert Delon shortly after he acquired the estate in 1997. “Fugue” is translated from Latin as “running”, “to run away”. This is a compositional technique and a form of polyphonic music, where the general melodic line of a polyphonic work “runs” from one voice to another. The peak maturity of the 2019 vintage will be between 2023 and 2029.
